Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We believe God is on the verge of revealing a new vision for the First Christian Church of Adel. Pastor Pfeiffer has returned refreshed and inspired from his time of prayer, rest, reflection, travel and study during his 3 months away. We have been blessed with the leadership of Pastor Woods with prayer, reflection and study during that same time. We now move into a time when we will consider what has been learned in that process and apply that knowledge and inspiration going forward at First Christian Church of Adel.

Your church board of directors together with the elder board and committee chairs has authorized the formation of a Vision Team to seek God’s vision for our church going forward. First and foremost this team will stay diligent in seeking God’s will in all our efforts to serve and glorify God’s holy name. This team will prayerfully consider the many blessings of our existing programs. A new direction or vision will be sought out and considered. The vision will include caring for the needs of our church family, but it will also seek a new emphasis on engaging the wider community while being cognizant of our abilities and limitations.

This next step forward in God’s service and that of our community will be a tremendous blessing. It is only through our faithful service to our Lord, ourselves and our community that this congregation can be fruitful and multiply.

This team will meet twice a month for about an hour to engage in prayer, discussion about the church and the surrounding community, and seeking God’s preferred future for this congregation. The team will meet for about 3 months starting late January.

If you are interested in serving on this team please contact one of us or our Office Manager Lisa Wilkerson (515.993.4514). If you have program ideas or suggestions please share them with the Vision Team.

Steve Venard (Chair) for the Board of Elders (text 515.661.1241)

Pastor Doug Pfeiffer for the Committee Chairs (text or call 515.720.0689)

The Worship Committee is considering changing the time of our Sunday worship service on a trial basis.  We hope this change will welcome new people (particularly those with children) to the church.  We are thinking about changing worship time to 10 a.m. for a 6-month trial, perhaps starting March 6. Please reflect and pray about this possible change. A discussion will be held in the sanctuary after worship (10 a.m.) on January 30.  Everyone is encouraged to participate and offer your feedback.

If you cannot make this discussion and want to offer feedback, please talk with a worship committee member (Jocelyn Schlieman, Donna Roberts, Pam Prouty, or Abby Crannell,) soon. Thank you for your prayers and reflections.

SHOW AND TELL! For the sermon February 27, 2022, we will have fun with participants bringing in items that bring them well-being and briefly describing these in worship. Please let Pastor Doug know what you plan to bring by February 23. Thanks!

Last week Outreach delivered a van full of adult winter clothing to Joppa, who serves the homeless population in Des Moines. We downsized the abundance of warm clothing that we had. Thanks to all who helped with this.

The Clothes Closet served five families on Saturday, January 8th. We handed out several coats as well as clothing.

We continue to deliver bags of clothing, shoes, and boots to area schools that request help.

Through special donations from members, and outreach budget.  Adel First Christian Church donated $400 to the Week of Compassion marked to help Kentucky Tornado Victims.

AGING RESOURCES & SUPPORT Kay Vanags, from Aging Resources of Central Iowa, was our guest speaker October 10 during Fellowship.  Please take a minute to check out the flyer she provided to us in the Fellowship Hall or go to their website www.agingresources.com for information.
